Cyanide Waste Water Treatment Application Using Dfrobot ORP sensors
Cyanide wastewater from electroplating facilities and certain types of chemical plants is toxic and must be treated by oxidation to bring the cyanide concentration within regulatory limits. As the speed of the oxidation reaction is tied to the pH value, a pH sensor is used together with an ORP sensor to monitor the completion of the reaction.
Two ORP sensors are placed in two separate reaction tanks, namely primary and secondary reaction tanks. ORP values in the primary tank range from 100 to 200 mV. Below shows the ORP sensor location in the primary reaction tank
The ORP values in the secondary reaction tank vary between 400mv and 600mV. Below shows the ORP sensor location in the secondary reaction tank
Preliminary oxidation monitoring in cyanide wastewater treatment using DFRobot ORP sensors shows some promise even though the ORP values still appear less reliable than desired and the ORP values in the secondary reaction tank show experience saturation problem.
