UNIHIKER K10 Live Stream Follow-Along: Your Hands-On Project Guide

Introduction

Now that you've watched our Empower Creation | UNIHIKER K10 AI Innovation Lab Live Stream introducing the basic operations and features of UNIHIKER K10, it's time to roll up your sleeves and bring these concepts to life. This guide will walk you through coding in Mind+ and exploring the five exciting projects demonstrated during the live session.

Hardware and Software

All the project demos below use the UNIHIKER K10 along with the Mind+ programming software. We recommend using Mind+ version: V1.8.1 RC1.0 or later for the best experience.

Basic setup

1. Open Mind+ and switch to "Offline" mode.

2. Click "Extension" → In the Extension page, click "Board" → select "UNIHIKER K10" → click "Back" → click "Back" to finish loading.

3. Connect the USB-C port of K10 to the USB port of your computer, click “Connect Device” in mind+, find the corresponding K10 device and click it to complete the device connection.

Note: The device name of different UNIHIKER K10 may vary, but all end with K10.

Project 1: Voice Control

How it works

This program responds to 6 voice commands, activated by saying "Hi Telly".

- Command 1 & 2: Light Control - Common commands for turning lights on and off.

Command 1: Turn on the light or Light on

Command 2: Turn off the light or Light off

For Projects of Command 3 4 5 6, we recommend that you connect the components according to the following wiring diagram for a better experience.

- Command 3 & 4: Snake Game

Command 3: Ready

Command 4: Go

Before starting, click the Reset button on the back. → Say "Hi Telly, turn on the light" to activate. → Then say "Ready" to start → and "Go...go...go...go..." to move the snake. Watch the Red LED snake chase the white LED food and grow!

- Command 5: Play Music

Say "Play a music" to trigger a music playback function.

How it works

Building on our previous "Command 1 & 2: Light Control" project, this enhanced version takes smart home automation to the next level.

Using the UNIHIKER K10, we now control a servo motor to physically toggle your home light switch—also activated by saying "Hi Telly".

Command 1: Turn on the light or Light on

Command 2: Turn off the light or Light off

To ensure precision and stability, custom 3D-printed bracket can be designed to securely mount the servo motor to your light switch. This clever engineering makes control smooth, accurate, and reliable—no more manual switching!

How it works

The UNIHIKER K10 also features powerful AI vision capabilities, including: Face Detection, Cat/Dog Detection, Motion Detection and QR Code Recognition. The fourth code supports mode switching.

 

 

When you point the K10 at any face, a green frame appears on the screen upon successful recognition. Then, it will:

✅ Turn on the colorful light automatically

✅ Activate the speech module to greet: “Nice to meet you!”

How it works

This project utilizes two buttons for operation, Button A and Button B. The intuitive interface allows users to capture moments while adding personalized creative elements through simple button operations.

 

 

Button A - Photo Capture:

Button A functions as the photo capture control - a single press instantly takes and saves the photo to the SD card. For facial recognition, press Button A and wait approximately 5 seconds while pointing at a face. Then, the system will display analyzed facial data in an information overlay at the top of the screen.

 

 

Button B - Frame Customization

Upon pressing Button B, an adorable frame will be applied to your captured photo. Each subsequent press of Button B will cycle through and display different frame designs, allowing you to browse and select from multiple stylish framing options for your image.

Don't worry! We've recreated it using UNIHIKER K10!
